How Papaya Could Help with Digestion

By: Kirsty Godso

Papaya is a hugely underrated fruit that is naturally high in antioxidants and carotenoids, providing many beneficial properties for the body. For meat eaters, it can be especially helpful with digestion of meat due to the enzyme papain. Papain can break down the tough protein chains found in muscle meat, making protein easier to digest. People living in tropical climates with easy access to papaya have long used the fruit as a remedy for constipation and IBS. If you find yourself having an upset stomach after eating meat, try having some papaya for dessert.
